We Day Shameless Idealists

It’s We Day again in Canada!!  Our Vancouver team is soaking up the energy and inspiration coming from an audience of thousands of students and teachers together for social change.  Part classroom, part concert.  All for good.

Free the Children’s We Day has been a huge success both in Toronto (September 30th) and Vancouver (October 15th) and now Montreal is the last remaining date which will take place on November 12th.

Free The Children’s We Day is more than just one day of celebration and inspiration. It’s a one-of-a-kind event and part of an innovative year-long program created to celebrate the power of young people to create positive change in the world.

In Toronto the Air Canada Centre was filled with 18,000 excited young students who have a passion for humanitarianism and an enthusiasm to change the world.   We were there and proud to be National Educational Partners of the event since inception four years ago:

NSB speakers at We Day to inspire social change included:

Deepak Chopra – earned a standing ovation for his speech about the combined power of intention + action to change the world. His talk can be found here.

MTVs The Buried Life – challenged the audience to consider:  “What do you want to do before you die?! Make it happen.”  Watch a clip here.

I Shall Not Hate author: Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish and surviving Child Soldier Michel Chikwanine, and Nobel Laureate Betty Williams as part of the peace panel shares words of wisdom ‘we all belong to one family: humankind’

Gold medalist Alexandre Bilodeau – Who joined us to sing Waving Flag while Knaan sang live!  Here’s video of the song – enjoy!!

And of course, the heroes of the day, Craig and Marc Kielburger who engaged the audience with their shameless idealism!!

See our story from previous years for more info on the impact and messaging at We Day:
Can You Feel the Power of We?! Speakers such as the Dalai Lama, Romeo Dallaire, Michael Pinball Clemons, Phil Fontaine, both Marc and Craig Kielburger, and many more graced the We Day stages in past.   NSB’s Aliya-Jasmine Sovani from MTV was also there to cover the event.
